April Ross

April Ross is one of just a handful of female beach volleyball athletes who have won medals in more than one Olympics. In Tokyo over the next several days she will attempt to claim her third Olympic medal alongside the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross's goal is to win her first Olympic gold medal. In fact, at 39, this could be her last opportunity to do so. She is still confident nevertheless. If we perform at our very top or do well, I believe we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross declared on NBC Boston. In addition, I'll try some chance. Ross was born in Costa Mesa, California in 1982. Her parents as well as her sister lived in the area. Along with participating in a variety of sport, she also attended Newport Harbor High School. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball as well as basketball as well as running and track. Though she excelled when playing indoors however, it was evident that her skills were above the average. Her college biography states that she was an outside-hitting hitter middle blocker and setter during her volleyball career at high school. She was named by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the year in 1999 for her achievements. The year 2000 was the time she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the of the year for volleyball. Although Ross and Klineman are in the spotlight since the year 2017, Klineman was already an established participant on the beaches long before their pairing. She's won big events twice, with various partners. The other is an icon in the world of volleyball. Between 2007 and 2013 she played with Jennifer Kessy, who is now her coach. Kessy was Ross's co-coach at the World Championships of 2009. This duo went on to win a silver at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings the legendary team that won the 2012 Olympic Games in London, edged their opponents to claim the gold medal. Ross became Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's retirement. They took home the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross played for the Trojans at USC during her college after graduating from in high school. Her time at USC was awe-inspiring. In 2000, she was voted Pac-10 Freshman of the Year and NCAA Freshman Of The Year, and was also an All-American. Additionally, she assisted her Trojans to reach the Final Four. Her heart was broken by a personal tragedy during her sophomore year. However, she went on to be an All-American again. In her last two years, she took the Trojans to the top of the mountain and took home consecutive national championships. As an individual, she established herself as an all-time great having won the 2003-04 Honda Sports Award as the nation's top female collegiate volleyball player. Ross had been an international studies major at USC. Margie Ross never saw her daughter reach the top of the beach volleyball ladder. Ross's mother passed away from breast carcinoma in the year 2001. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. However, she continues to hold her lost parent near and close. Margie is an inspiration both on and off of the shore.
